American Military Executes Lethal Strike in Pacific, Leading to Four Deaths

As stated by a high-ranking military official, the US armed forces carried out a lethal strike on a vessel in the Pacific Ocean, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.

“A US joint task force carried out a deadly attack on a vessel linked to a terrorist group in open sea. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was traveling along a established narco-trafficking route and was involved in illicit drug transport. A total of four male narco-terrorists were eliminated, and no American forces were injured.”

Background and Recent Actions

The statement follows a day after an announcement regarding a blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. In that announcement on online platforms, the US president alleged Venezuela of using oil profits to fund drug trafficking and other crimes, pledging to increase the military presence.

Only on the previous day, the Pentagon said it had conducted strikes on three boats suspected of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Since 2 September, over 20 military engagements have killed at least 99 people, most off the coast of Venezuela.

Administration Justifies Tactics Amidst Pressure

The administration has encountered increasing pressure to make public video of a September 2nd vessel attack. However, the defense secretary have refused to do so. The administration has defended its campaign as a successful operation, saying it has prevented drugs from entering US shores and has dismissed concerns that it is exceeding the limits of lawful warfare.

Although the administration has said the campaign is about halting drugs destined for the US, remarks from a top official appeared to suggest a wider geopolitical objective. In a recent interview, the chief of staff remarked the leader “aims to keep on blowing boats up until the Venezuelan president cries uncle.”

This suggests the military campaign may be linked to a push to oust Venezuela's current leadership.
