The original creators behind the famous frozen dessert company Ben & Jerry's has claimed how parent company the multinational conglomerate stopped the launch of an innovative pro-Palestinian frozen dessert product.

The entrepreneur, who co-founded the business alongside Jerry Greenfield, announced how he will independently develop the controversial flavor as part of a personal series highlighting causes Ben & Jerry's was barred from addressing publicly.

Ongoing Conflict Involving Creators and Corporate Owner

This latest announcement intensifies the ongoing disagreement between the internationally recognized dessert company with Unilever, the UK-based consumer goods corporation which acquired Ben & Jerry's since 2000.

Both founders have claimed that Unilever and their ice cream division Magnum unlawfully blocked their company against "fulfilling its ethical commitments".

The Fruit Flavor becoming a Symbol for Solidarity

The entrepreneur stated through an Instagram video that he is creating an innovative watermelon-based sorbet, requesting consumer ideas regarding naming options and additional components.

“I'm accomplishing what they couldn't,” the founder commented from his kitchen. “I'm making a watermelon-flavored ice cream that calls for permanent peace in Palestine while demanding repairing the damage that occurred in the region.”

This particular fruit has emerged as a symbol for solidarity with the Palestinian people because of its colors, which closely resemble the colors in the Palestinian flag – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Previous Activism plus Current Developments

In 2021, the ice cream company ceased sales of their merchandise in areas occupied by Israel, leading to the parent company transferring the Israeli operation to an Israeli distributor, thereby permitting ongoing distribution in disputed territories.

This upcoming dessert series will be created through Mr. Cohen's personal brand, the socially conscious dessert company which was first created several years back for endorsing ex- political contender Senator Sanders via the product "Bernie's Return".

Management Shifts and Future Plans

Mr. Cohen indicated that he will create other ice cream flavors that address concerns that the company was prevented from speaking about openly by Unilever.

This development follows co-founder Mr. Greenfield resigned his position at Ben & Jerry's recently, after decades of involvement, mentioning concerns that its independence had been undermined following Unilever's decision to curb their advocacy work.

At that time, Ben Cohen remarked that "Jerry has strong compassion and the ongoing dispute with our parent company was deeply distressing him."

"My heart compels me to continue to work within the organization to advocate for its independence so that the company can achieve the social mission, the principles that established its foundation while upholding for decades," he explained to journalists.
