Ex- British Broadcasting Corporation Specialists Face MPs' Grilling After Claims of Prejudice in Disclosed Memo

Former BBC specialists testifying before MPs

We open with inquiries from Tory Member of Parliament Caroline Dinenage, who leads the committee.

She initiates by providing background to the leaked memorandum authored by Michael Prescott and printed in a national newspaper.

"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation tilting in any particular direction, I simply desire it balanced, impartial and fair," he declares.

When asked whether he believes the BBC is systematically partial, he replies: "No, I do not. To be clear, tons of stuff the BBC does is world class - both documentary and fictional content."

But he adds: "There is significant effort that needs to be done at the BBC."

Another previous consultant BBC adviser questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, states she views the BBC very seriously and that it has a "persistent practice and active debate" regarding evolving and intricate issues.

"Did the BBC willing to engage in a proper dialogue and exchange and take action?" she questions. "As I see it, indeed, they were."
