Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor has been charged with performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
