Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
