Netflix Casts Perfect Performer for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment

The Secret Organization is poised to exert significant influence in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the true confrontation won’t unfold until season 3, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.

The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Bon Clay. The role can use their power to transform into an exact copy of any person they’ve touched with their main hand. The actor, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that role re-envisioned as non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the live-action show, differing from the initial comic and cartoon version.

Escola joins several other recently announced actors tasked with bringing the organization to life, featuring leader Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the well-known actor, an emerging star as a key member, and a familiar face, who is also part of the ensemble as the ruler of the desert kingdom.

Though Bon Clay is a major member of Baroque Works, the persona will be introduced in One Piece the third season. Given the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this marks a notable change in the schedule of the character’s debut, one that could suggest further changes to the narrative framework.

The actor’s combination of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the part. Along with their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.

The platform’s adapted One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
