Renowned Star Pat Finn, Known For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.

American performer Finn, who was seen in popular programs including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles on Monday having undergone cancer treatment from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.

"He never met a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his family stated in a message.

They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a party host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for playing the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight series over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.

"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners during his career and it would be difficult to find someone who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he shared online.

Pat Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, his children, and his family.
