The British player advanced to round three in three of the four major tournaments during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments in 2025 due to a medical condition she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to recover before starting plans for the 2026 season.

Her upcoming training are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Her movement was far from freely in the deciding set in the match with Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has been a concern at times this year.

These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally after a long gap since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to Pegula in the third stage in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 matches this year and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
