The newest action-packed instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing action and insanity with similar enthusiasm, all while presenting captivating, socially charged stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose work have exemplified all of those qualities.
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by having a fresh location and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every title is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from season to season, while always delving into the nature of people through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our common unconventional, daring sensibility to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
