Jokic earned the NBA's Most Valuable Player title in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Triple NBA MVP Jokic endured a "devastating" injury to his knee as the Nuggets lost by a score of 147-123 against the Heat.

The Serbian center injured himself towards the end of the second quarter following an accidental contact with team-mate Spencer Jones.

Jones landed on the footwear of the big man, who instantly collapsed to the floor holding his knee.

The veteran player, who tops the league this season in rebounds and assists, recorded 21 points and eight assists in the game prior to sustaining the injury.

He is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday to evaluate the extent of the issue.

"Immediately, Jokic understood something was wrong," said Denver coach David Adelman.

"This is part of the NBA. Whoever who suffers an injury, it's tough to see, particularly a player as special as Jokic. More information will come tomorrow."

"We'll move on as a team. Clearly, at this moment, I'm more worried primarily about him personally and the disappointment of going through a situation of that nature."
